Ithyle was born at home to two hippie parents in Humboldt County, CA before they lived and traveled across the country in a school bus that was converted to a mobile-home, wood burning stove and all. He spent his early-teens in Marin County, CA with his father where he and his friends made punk rock music and experimental Super-8 horror and claymation films. He left home when he wasn’t old enough to legally drive and hitchhiked to Connecticut to see the Grateful Dead and then spent the next 8 years following the band around the United States and Europe. This is where he grew up, where he learned to be self sufficient, and where he first learned the importance of a tribe. His love of music and art defined him as an individual and shaped his vision as an artist, a musician, and as a film maker. He has always had a love of photography and film-making as he flitted from band to band in San Francisco. He eventually moved to Los Angeles in 2006 to pursue a photography/commercial directing career that led to meeting his wife and creative partner, buying a house, and having a beautiful son in this city he is pleased to call his home.

Ithyle likes eating street food in countries where you probably shouldn’t eat street food. He likes ice cream in a cone, particularly from a rascally Turkish ice-cream vendor. He can’t resist a Photo Booth. He likes to take pictures all of the time (the kind that move and also the kind that don’t). He is a story teller and a magic maker. He travels the world in search of whimsy and…. ice cream in cones.  He is known for his creativity and magical sensibility. His story-telling techniques have been instrumental in the popularity of high-touch commercial advertising in the United States and around the world. Some of his clients include Target, PepsiCo, Microsoft, Oppo, ING, Levi’s, and MTV. He has shown in film festivals all over the world including the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase at Cannes Lions, GenArt FIlm Festival in New York and Los Angeles, FLUX at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, the GoShort Film Festival in Nijmegen The Netherlands, and the Kodak PocketFest Short Film Festival in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, LiberArti Film Festival in Tuscany, Italy, the Crested Butte Film Festival in Colorado, as well as featured in such industry publications as Shoot Magazine's New Directors Showcase, Shoot Magazine's 10 Young Directors To Watch, Videography Magazine and PhotoCine News.
